Hi there.
I’m an instructional designer, technical writer, and lifelong learner.
I find incredible fulfillment in both learning and inspiring others in their own personal learning journey. Below, I go into more detail about what I do as an instructional designer, how I got started in this field, and what professional values I maintain.
What I Do
I fell in love with words, reading, and writing when I was in elementary school. After completing my B.A. in women’s studies, I devoted my professional life in training and instructional design to using words in the most powerful and meaningful ways. I am sought out for my ability to synthesize highly technical and complex information and make it relatable, clear, and digestible.
Beyond my passion for writing, I am fascinated by the human learning process. As a corporate instructional designer, my mission is to carefully craft accessible and relevant training and development assets that keep employees engaged and attentive. My experience in the field and my passion for knowledge led me to pursue graduate studies at Purdue University, where I am currently working towards an M.S.Ed. in Learning Design and Technology.
My Values
I value learning & development, professional integrity, and the pursuit of excellence.
I should value learning & development, since my professional and personal life is inextricably wrapped in it. But it’s true. I love to grow, learn, and develop my skills. It’s why I have stacks of books in just about every room of my house. It’s why I read the news first thing in the morning. I want to know more, so I can do more.
Development is also part of my professional integrity. Along with confidentiality, discretion, and adhering to legal and ethical standards. I do not take my responsibilities lightly.
Professional integrity also means that I value excellence; but it’s not just the end results I value. I strive for excellence throughout each learning experience. I constantly search for ways to better my professional skills, so that my projects, while excellent, never stagnate.
